We dedicate the 2009 Black Horse Powwow to, Chief Red Cloud. He was born about 1819 and passed to the spirit world in 1909. His mother was, Oglalla and his father was, Brule.

Red Cloud was one of nine children and he became a great Chief. He was the last Chief to sign the treaty of 1868 where the Black Hills were to be the property of the Sioux. He was noted to be a quiet man, courageous in action and a lover of the land. We have received permission from his family to use this information We are proud to have some of his family on our committee. Thank you Red Cloud for all you did for our people.
